So thankful to be able to stay in communication with this great class of “1969”
Hi fellow Tarbabes, I’m loving our new Black History Fact “Downtown Compton “. It brings back wonderful memories for me. Going to the Compton movie Theater on a Saturday afternoon; hoping to win a prize from Art’s Toy Fair during the movie intermission ticket drawing. Shopping for my Back to School shoes at Leeds. My parents buying chocolate eggs for Easter from Sees Candies. Walking down to Woolworths for popcorn. Getting 25 cents Tacos from Taco Tia. Downtown Compton was a magical place that we all Loved!!!
Wow! What a fantastic way to keep in touch and to get insight into the Journeys that many of us have taken. I am a front line worker, too stubborn to retire from nursing. I am passionate when it comes to improving and maintaining life! Patient advocacy is my life. God has blessed me with a caring nature and hands to comfort. 1966-69 were the best years of our lives, though we didn’t think so at the time. Let’s stay connected!
Wonderful idea, I teach a Chaplain Certificatiin class on Thursday Nights at 6:00 pm. Via Zoom. So I am not able to participate on the Zoom meeting so this information vehicle helps me to stay connected. On that note I did not see any information on the death and services for our 69 classmate Daryl Swingler. I must have missed it. My brother Kenny Woods mentioned that to me. Praying for the family. Thanks everyone and be safe and blessed
Just wanted to share with the family that I received my Doctorate Degree on October 10, 2020. It was one of my milestones that I set for myself and thank God I did.
Because of Him…🙏🏿
Be blessed Pastor Matt
It is so good to hear from my classmates. The Zoom meetings are fun and entertaining. Love see you all.

This is fabulous. Let’s continue to communicate!
Kudos to our Class Reunion Committee for creating the “Compton High School Class of 1969 website “The El Companile!” It its designed for us to “Stay Connected” with our classmates, a website that’s second to none. An excellent job. I’m so excited!!! And finally, on this Juneteenth 1969, we the class of 1969, Los Lideres Potenciales, walked onto the footfield, for our graduation ceremonies. As we sat in our seats, I was reminded of the words, “Potential Leaders, superior and great… The world knows our future, and our fate. We are this country’s future leaders, upstanding and fine. Here we are the great and wonderous class of sixty-nine…” We entered to learn, we departed to serve, 51 years ago. Looking forward to connecting and reconnecting with my fellow classmates. Be safe, be well, be healthy.
Many “thanks” to those who are helping us stay connected!
